ROLE OF THE MOTHER WITH STATUS DENTAL CARIES OF CHILDREN IN TK Al-KHAIRIYAH BANDA ACEH

Abstract

The status of dental caries in kindergarten children is still very high, this is because children cannot be independent in maintaining dental health so that mothers have a role in preventing caries. This study aims to determine the relationship between the mother's role and the dental caries status of children at Al-Khairiyah Kindergarten Banda Aceh. This research is analytic with cross sectional study approach. Sampling using total sampling, namely all children aged 4-6 years and their mothers as respondents amounted to 60 people in TK Al-Khairiyah Banda Aceh. The research instrument used a questionnaire and a dental caries index. Data analysis used Chi-Square statistical test. The results showed that from 60 mothers who had a poor maternal role as many as 29 people (48.8%) with the results of the examination of the dental caries status of children in the very high category as many as 23 children (38.3%), the results of the chi-square test obtained a p value =0.000 (p<0.05). It was concluded that there was a relationship between the role of the mother and the dental caries status of children at the Al-Khairiyah Kindergarten in Banda Aceh.
