THE EFFECT OF DENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING USING QUARTET CARD MEDIA ON STUDENT KNOWLEDGE LEVELS

Abstract

Background: One strategy to improve the dental health of elementary school students is to maintain dental hygiene. Students are taught about health promotion, which requires interesting and useful learning materials. Children's understanding of information is very important, especially in dental health education. Dental health education can be more easily understood with the help of quartet card media games. Quartet card media consists of several picture cards with various captions. Quartet card media consists of several picture cards with different captions. This study aims to determine dental health counseling through quartet card game media on the level of knowledge of school children. This research design is quassi experiment with pre-test and post-test design.  The population was 75 students of class IV and V with Random Sampling technique. Instruments using questionnaires and quartet card games. using univariate and bivariate analysis, univariate analysis is carried out for each variable from the results of this study only produces the distribution and percentage of each variable. Bivariate analysis was carried out on two variables that were thought to be related. As well as to see the difference between pre test and post test then analyzed. The results of the pre-test research were good criteria (67%) moderate criteria (33%) and the post-test knowledge level was in the good category (83%), moderate only (17%), and the average value was 82.28 before and 86.67 after counseling. This is evident, the standard deviation value before and after counseling is 13.676 and 12.435, the mean difference value is 1.24, and the p value is 0.001, which shows that dental health counseling using quartet card media has a positive impact on increasing the knowledge of grade IV and V students at SD Inpres Naimata.
