ASSISTANCE OF PARENTS IN BRUSHING THEIR TEETH TO IMPROVE THE DENTAL HYGIENE STATUS OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN

Background: Brushing teeth is one of the efforts to maintain the health of teeth and mouth in children. Brushing teeth is the process of cleaning teeth and mouth from food residues and debris, which aims to prevent disease. The role of parents is very important because parents are the closest people to children, especially in maintaining dental and oral health. Parents must know how to take care of children's teeth and guide children to brush their teeth properly and correctly. Objective: To analyze the effect of parental assistance in brushing teeth on the hygiene of teeth and mouth of Grade I Students of SDN 1 Gobras Tamansari, Tasikmalaya City. Method: quasi-experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test design. The research instrument used is the PHPM examination sheet. The sampling technique used a total sampling technique of 100 samples, namely 50 Class I students and 50 students' parents. Results: PHPM on the criteria of good pretest as many as 19 students while posttest 3 people, the criteria for very good pretest as many as 9 students while the posttest 47 people, p value value 0.000.
