Abstract

The prevalence of primary tooth caries in Indonesia in the 3-4 year age group is 81.5% and the prevalence has increased in the 5-year age group, namely 92.6%. There is a significant relationship between the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of 600 mothers and the oral hygiene conditions of children in the 6-12 year age group, therefore innovation is needed as a solution to this gap in improving mothers' skills in maintaining children's dental and oral health. The Yummy Mobile Application is an application that has been created to help parents maintain dental health at home. The research aims to evaluate the effectiveness app "Yummy" in improving mothers' knowledge, attitudes, skills in maintaining oral health in early childhood, and improve the oral hygiene of early childhood. Method: quasy-experimental Non Randomized Control Group Pretest and Posttest Design (Non Equivalent Control Group), subjects is mother and child pairs aged 3-6 years (n=96). The intervention group was given access to the “Yummy” application (n=48). The control group was given leaflets (n=48). Results: A total of 48 mother and child pairs participated in the study; The average age of children is 5.1 years. Results of the paired samples test of mothers' knowledge, mothers' skills, child index plaque (p-value 0.000). The results of the Wilcoxon attitude test have a p-value of 0.000. Independent samples test results of mothers' knowledge, mothers' skills, child index plaque (p value 0.000). Mann-Whitney test results p value 0.001. Conclusion: The Yummy application is effective in increasing mothers' knowledge, attitudes, and skills in maintaining children's dental and oral health, thereby improving children's oral hygiene.
