Family independence is needed to improve the ability to perform daily life activities of post-stroke patients.
The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between the level of family independence and the frequency of
stroke attacks on the ability of daily life activities of post-stroke patients. This research method uses a cross-sectional
research design. The study population was 420 people. The sample in the study used cluster sampling with a total sample
size of 206 respondents. The results of the chi-square test showed that there was a significant relationship between the
level of family independence and the ability to daily life activities of post-stroke patients (p=0.000) and there was a
significant relationship between the frequency of stroke attacks on the ability to daily life activities of post-stroke patients
(p=0.001) <a-0.05. Good family independence is that the family can apply the seven indicators that have been determined.
The better the level of family Idependence in post-stroke patients in the recovery process, the better the ability of daily
life activities. In conclusion, this study proves that a fairly good level of family independence can affect the ability of daily
life activities of post-stroke patients which is quite good as well, and repeated stroke attacks will also affect the ability to
daily life activities of post-stroke patients due to the disability experienced by then getting heavier, therefore it is necessary to conduct counseling on family health tasks to increase the level of family independence in caring for post-stroke patients at home and prevent repeated strokes.
Maulidah, Ruri Virdiyanti, Erlin Septi Hendranti Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Health and Cardiovascular Nursing http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.poltekkesjakarta1.ac.id/index.php/perawat/article/view/1660 Tue, 09 Jul 2024 00:00:00 +0700 The Effect of Fall Prevention Education on the Risk of Falls in the Elderly https://ejournal.poltekkesjakarta1.ac.id/index.php/perawat/article/view/1651
A fall in the elderly causes a person to suddenly lie down accidentally on the ground or floor or lower level. This condition is often experienced by 1 in 3 elderly people every year. Risk factors for falls in the elderly are behaviour, biological, environmental, and socio-economic. Nurses can make efforts to reduce the risk of falls in the elderly through education for the elderly and their families. The study aimed to determine the extent of the influence of fall prevention educational interventions on the risk of falls in the elderly in the family context. This study used a quasi-experiment, a group pretest post-test, education was carried out using a fall prevention booklet for the elderly in the intervention group and without a booklet in the control group. This research used a purposive sampling method using inclusion criteria to obtain 60 respondents consisting of 30 respondents in the intervention group and 30 respondents in the control group with 6 interactions carried out. The results of this study using the Wilcoxon test from fall prevention education in the intervention group and control group showed a decrease or reduction in fall risk scores (negative rank) in 15 respondents in the intervention group with an average decrease of 8. In the control group, there were 5 respondents experienced a decrease fall risk score, where the average value decreases by 3. The results of this test show the influence of fall prevention education in the elderly on the risk of falls with a p-value <0.001. The conclusion is that educational interventions to prevent falls in the elderly have an impact on reducing risk factors for falls in the elderly. The suggestion is that health education about fall prevention should be given to elderly clients as individuals and groups so that it will reduce risk factors for falls.
Wahyu Widagdo, Mutarobin, Mumpuni, Susmadi Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Health and Cardiovascular Nursing http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.poltekkesjakarta1.ac.id/index.php/perawat/article/view/1651 Tue, 09 Jul 2024 00:00:00 +0700 Analysis of Buerger Allen Exercise Interventions in Improving Peripheral Perfusion in Nursing Care for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Clients in the Inpatient Room: Case Report https://ejournal.poltekkesjakarta1.ac.id/index.php/perawat/article/view/1373
Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia. Most causes occur due to impaired insulin secretion, impaired insulin action, impaired carbohydrate, fat, protein metabolism. The results of the Basic Health Research in 2018 showed that the prevalence of DM in Indonesia is 8.5% or around 20.4 million people diagnosed with diabetes mellitus. In Jakarta (Kemenkes RI, 2018). It is estimated that a person with diabetes has a 25% lifetime risk of developing diabetic ulcers (International Diabetes Federation, 2020). One of the common nursing problems in DM clients is ineffective peripheral perfusion. Buerger Allen Exercise is one of the active movement exercises that aims to improve peripheral perfusion to the lower extremities. This case report aims to analyze nursing care in the application of Buerger Allen Exercise interventions in clients with Diabetes Mellitus. The research method used is descriptive research in the form of a case study with a sample of 1 person conducted for 3 consecutive days with a duration of 12 minutes in the morning and evening in the internal medicine inpatient room. The results of the evaluation after the intervention of the Buerger Allen exercise found a change in ABI values on the first day of the right ABI value: was 0.87 and the left ABI: was 0.80, on the second day the right ABI value was 1.2 and the left ABI was 1.03, on the third day the right ABI value was 1.01 and the left ABI: 1,0. For CRT, pulse on the extremities, and edema there were no significant changes. While in the acral there is a change to warm acral on the lower extremities. This shows the effectiveness of the Buerger Allen exercise on lower extremity peripheral perfusion, especially in increasing ABI values
Nadia Millenia, Tutiany Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Health and Cardiovascular Nursing http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.poltekkesjakarta1.ac.id/index.php/perawat/article/view/1373 Tue, 09 Jul 2024 00:00:00 +0700 The Influence of Cigarette Advertising on Adolescent Smoking Behavior https://ejournal.poltekkesjakarta1.ac.id/index.php/perawat/article/view/1505
Adolescence is a transition period from childhood to adulthood. This period was the most turbulent and difficult. Because it often causes several problems, such as tobacco addiction. The proportion of smokers is higher in adolescents aged under 15 years than in adolescents aged over 15 years. The cause lies in teenagers' curiosity and desire to try something new. Gender, psychological factors, the influence of peers and parents, and tobacco advertising are some of the factors that cause teenagers to smoke. This research aims to determine the factors that influence smoking behavior among adolescents. This research uses a quantitative and a descriptive-analytical design using a cross-sectional approach. The research population was teenagers who had a smoking habit totaling 157 respondents. The sampling method used purposive sampling which was carried out at the research location of State Middle Schools (SMPN) in the East Jakarta area from June to October 2023. The samples in this study were by the criteria that had been set. determined to be 83 respondents. The results of this study show that there is a significant relationship between gender, peer influence, parental influence, and cigarette advertising on adolescent smoking behavior. Cigarette advertising is the most dominant factor influencing smoking behavior among teenagers, with OR = 4.458. This means that cigarette advertising is more likely to influence teenagers' smoking behavior. The government must limit tobacco advertising in electronic, newspaper, magazine, and social media.
Nurhalimah, Fauziah Yuliana Putri, Omi Haryati, Dinarti Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Health and Cardiovascular Nursing http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.poltekkesjakarta1.ac.id/index.php/perawat/article/view/1505 Tue, 09 Jul 2024 00:00:00 +0700 The Application of Foot Exercise Increases Ankle Brachial Values Index (ABI) in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients at Fatmawati General Hospital: Case Report https://ejournal.poltekkesjakarta1.ac.id/index.php/perawat/article/view/1650
Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease characterized by blood glucose (blood sugar) levels exceeding normal. Long-term complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus can include microangiopathy and macroangiopathy. Microvascular complications include neuropathy, while macrovascular damage includes damage to the peripheral blood vessels of the legs, which is usually called diabetic foot. Diabetic foot exercises, including physical exercise, are natural exercises that are practical in increasing perfusion to the periphery or can increase the Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) value in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, especially in the foot area. This study aimed to analyze the application of foot exercise interventions in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus to increase peripheral perfusion in the foot area. This research method uses a case report method with interventions carried out on one patient for 15-30 minutes per day for 3 days. The evaluation results after the foot exercise intervention found a change in the ABI value for the right leg from 0.91 to 1.04 and the left leg from 0.90 to 0.97. This shows that after the foot exercise intervention, the Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) value increased. It is hoped that foot exercises for Diabetes Mellitus patients can be applied to patients while in hospital and can continue to be practiced independently by patients while at home
Salsabilla Aulia Jatmiko, Tarwoto Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Health and Cardiovascular Nursing http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.poltekkesjakarta1.ac.id/index.php/perawat/article/view/1650 Tue, 09 Jul 2024 00:00:00 +0700 Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality for Heart Failure Patients: Literature Review https://ejournal.poltekkesjakarta1.ac.id/index.php/perawat/article/view/1458
Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) in the health sector are increasingly being used. However, there is limited study on the use of VR and AR in nursing care for heart failure. Long-term care for heart failure patients is a challenge as well as an opportunity for nurses to apply VR and AR, so that therapy modalities become more varied, interesting, and increase patient compliance. The aim of this literature study is to explore the use of VR and AR for heart failure patients. Articles were obtained from the ScienceDirect, PubMed, Clinical Key, SAGE, ProQuest and SpringerLink databases published in 2019-2023, using the keywords "virtual reality", "augmented reality", and "heart failure". The use of VR and AR in heart failure embraces the areas of patient care, both inpatient and outpatient. This study shows that VR and AR have a positive impact for heart failure patients. This technology can reduce patient’s level of pain and anxiety, and it also improve patient experience and participation in rehabilitation programs. Nurses can use this technology in almost all stages of the nursing process, from assessment to nursing implementation. Further studies are needed regarding VR and AR in cardiovascular nursing care that can be applied in Indonesia.
Kartikaningtyas Kusumastuti, Tuti Herawati Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Health and Cardiovascular Nursing http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.poltekkesjakarta1.ac.id/index.php/perawat/article/view/1458 Tue, 09 Jul 2024 00:00:00 +0700 Effectiveness Of Telehealth Use in Improving the Psychological Health and Quality of Life On Elderly at Home https://ejournal.poltekkesjakarta1.ac.id/index.php/perawat/article/view/1481
The aging process is a process that occurs naturally. When humans reach old age, anatomical, physiological, and biochemical changes occur in body tissues, thus affecting the body's functions and abilities. Various kinds of health programs for the elderly are implemented to improve the health of the elderly, one of which uses telehealth or telemedicine. This literature study aims to describe the use of telehealth in improving the health of the elderly. The method used was a literature review with the keywords elderly, telehealth, telemedicine, eHealth, and mobile health from several ClinicalKey Nursing, EBSCO, Proquest & Scopus databases and published from 2018 to 2023. Study results and review of 10 journal articles concluded that teleheatlh can be considered an important tool to improve aspects of the psychological health and quality of life of the elderly, potentially reducing access to health services, hospitalizations, and costs. Thus, nurses must improve their abilities in technology and nursing information systems. Further studies are needed regarding the use of telehealth in improving the quality of life of the elderly which can be applied in Indonesia.
Jamilatur Rasyidah Efendi, Sukihananto Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Health and Cardiovascular Nursing http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.poltekkesjakarta1.ac.id/index.php/perawat/article/view/1481 Tue, 09 Jul 2024 00:00:00 +0700
